Children and Screens joined forces with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for a Media Exposure and Early Child Development Workshop on January 25 and 26, 2018. The purpose of the workshop was to gather experts on digital media and child development from diverse perspectives to identify research gaps and opportunities that will ultimately lead to maximizing benefits and minimizing pitfalls of media exposure and use during early childhood. Expert participants in population health, pediatrics, child development, cognitive science, neuroscience, and educational technology delivered lectures and led panel discussions. They also evaluated the current state of knowledge of media exposure and use in early childhood and outlined future research needs.
